FAIRWEAR FOUNDATIONSo, you wanna talk ethics? You've come to the right place, buddy. Here at Blue Corner Store, we pride ourselves on our ethical approach to clothing and it runs throughout everything we do. Always question the ethics behind what you buy - it's our duty as ethical consumers...

All Blue Corner Store apparel is produced within environments which are 100% sweat-shop free and ensure fair working conditions, working hours and wages for garment employees. We only work with suppliers whom adhere to these standards and have the ethical certification to prove it. Then, you and I both can rest assured that no child labour or illegal and immoral practices have been used in the production of our merchandise. Here's a few of the brands we work with here at Blue Corner Store:

American Apparel

We're huge supporters of American Apparel and their pledge to abolish sweat-shops from the face of the planet. Every single item they produce is created from scratch in LA where workers are paid fair wages and have access to healthcare/benefits. That's exactly the reason why every t-shirt in our SS13 range was printed on American Apparel and with our newly released AW13 range, we've even expanded to use American Apparel backpacks too. They're unbelievable quality and even have a neat little 'Made in the USA' tag on the front to remind you how great you are.

EarthPositive Apparel

If you're not familiar with EarthPositive Apparel, then you should really give them a few minutes of your time. Believe it or not, they've actually perfected the art of creating 100% climate neutral garments. Each item is not only organic and ethically made, but crucially, manufactured solely using sustainable energy generated from wind and solar power. Impressive, huh? EarthPositive is constantly striving to undertake action in order to combat climate change. On top of this, EarthPositive is independently audited by the Fair Wear Foundation and proudly wears its seal of approval. In our new range, all of our sweatshirts are produced by EarthPositive Apparel and are made from 100% organic cotton. It'll keep you warm and also give you that warm feeling inside. AWDis Just Hoods

AWDis are on the money for two reasons. Firstly, AWDis are 100% WRAP (Worldwide Responsible Apparel Production) certified and ensure that all garments are made under "lawful, humane and ethical conditions with all due adherence to environmentally conscious production methods." Secondly, they're simply some of the best quality and best fitting garments we've come across; bar none. In short, it was a total no-brainer. Try one on for size, you'll never want to take it off again.

Product Zone

We recently found this awesome, small UK manufacturer of headwear who go by the name of Product Zone. However, it was no accident as none other than Clive Helders (father of Arctic Monkeys' legendary Agile Beast) kindly offered to produce our headwear for us. That's why all our beanies are now made in the UK from scratch (Yorkshire to be precise). Anything that can't be manufactured in the UK is sourced from ethically certified factories from further afield. Just out of curiosity, I went around looking to see how many hats I could find also made in the UK. I found literally none. We now make it our mission to support UK manufacturing wherever possible.

The odds and ends?

Every single one of our garments are screen printed, embroidered and stitched right here in the UK using green production methods. All of our packaging is environmentally friendly and bio-degradable. All of our flyers/swing tickets are produced on FSC (Forest Stewardship Council) certified board which which ensures responsible management of the world's forests.

We aim to not only maintain our support of ethical and sustainable manufacture over the coming years, but we aspire to constantly improve and develop our ethical stance the bigger Blue Corner Store becomes. It's not easy, but it sure as hell feels a lot better at the end of the day. Who knows? Maybe we'll inspire others to do the same. We just aim to leave this world a little better than we found it.
